September 20, 2017. Thank you to Carl Warren employee-owners Don Soto, Chris Kustra, and Emily Gutierrez for volunteering to present at these upcoming events. Don will be co-presenting at the CLM & Business Insurance Construction Conference on October 9-13th in San Diego. Chris and Emily will be presenting at our client’s, California Joint Powers Insurance Authority, annual educational forum October 11-13th in Santa Barbara.
CLM and Business Insurance joined forces last year to create a combined Construction Conference. In addition to addressing construction defects and other hot topics, sessions will cover construction site accidents and injuries, coverage issues, subcontractor issues, and new technologies. Don Soto, Claims Manager, will be co-presenting at 1 PM on Tuesday, October 10th on “To Defend or Not to Defend: The Dilemma for Carriers, Subcontractors and Their Counsel”. The discussion will center on the ongoing dilemma in construction litigation regarding demands for defense and indemnity from general contractors and developers to subcontractors and their carriers. Hear firsthand experiences on large loss claims handling with examples of the pros and cons in accepting tenders of defense. Click here to find out more about the conference.
California Joint Powers Insurance Authority (the Authority) plans each Forum so that participants can study topics and issues relevant to local government in areas such as legal liability, workers’ compensation, employment law, public safety, organizational thinking, governance, and legislation. Chris Kustra, Claims Manager, and Emily Gutierrez, Claims Supervisor are both on the Authority’s Carl Warren team and will be speaking on Thursday, October 12th on “Past Results Don’t Guarantee Future Performance: Accident Investigations”. They will discuss the importance of accident investigations and provide key questions to ask and checklists for the different types of accidents that can occur.
This year, the Forum’s Keynote Speaker will be Doc Hendley, Founder and President of Wine to Water, a charitable organization devoted to providing clean water and sanitation to people around the world.
