February 28, 2018. The Combined Claims Conference is a week away. Join industry professionals on March 6th and 7th for the 30th Anniversary Celebration at the Hyatt Regency Orange County. The CCC is a two-day program offering continuing education for CPCU, RPA, MCLE, CIPI, CALI and the California and Texas Departments of Insurance for independent adjusters, attorneys, investigators, and brokers. The conference includes three separate educational tracks: Property, Liability and Special Investigations (SIU) unit. Some of our local supervisors and adjusters will be in attendance. This is a great opportunity for them to meet with their peers and our partners and to earn CE credits.
Reta Lewis, Claims Supervisor will be co-presenting with Doug Smith with Smith Law Office, LLP and Kari Mendoza with the City of Beaumont on “California Tort Claims Act – An Overview” at 10:45AM on Tuesday. Virtually all litigants suing a public entity in California must comply with the California Tort Claims Act. This course will provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of the Act, including what the Act means, how it is utilized in litigation involving a public entity, and the impact of non-compliance on a lawsuit. Upon completion of the course, attendees will be able to utilize the California Tort Claims Act to better analyze the viability of and the obstacles to claims against a public entity.
Alan Dialon, Senior Claims Examiner will be co-presenting with Timothy Graves with Rimkus Consulting Group and Blake Brugman with American Technologies, Inc. on “Adjusting Water Damage Claims” at 1:45PM on Tuesday. This session will provide attendees with an overview of the current laws and requirements for initial water remediation, to include knowledge of Category 1-3 water losses, moisture readings, mapping of water losses, Asbestos Containing Material and lead and mold issues. The speakers will also talk about relevant codes and standards associated with water losses to structures.
